Rose among the Thorns

I have been tinkering with Chaos Dragons since I abandoned my dreams of piloting Fire Fists and surrendered the deck to my little bro(who pilots the deck WAAAAAYYYYYY better than I do).

Last week, as I was trying to think of cards that can fill up the last three slots* in my new CD deck, a card suddenly popped out of my unclassified cards.

I call my three divas Mary, Louise and Rose.

Deepsea Diva may be famous for the many OTKs she can facilitate in Mermail-Atlantean decks, as well as being a one-card out to Verz Ophion(diva into infantry into kappa), but outside of Mermails, she also has many uses.

So how do I use her in Chaos Dragons(aside from going into Gachi and making my big dragons even bigger)? Simple. Being a level 2 tuner who can replicate herself, she opens up synchro plays from lv4 to lv8 in CD**. (Armory Arm, Catastor, Gaia Knight, and the Signer Dragons are just examples of what you could summon with diva) The best part about this is the ease of going into BLACK ROSE DRAGON, a possible game-changer. Now you have 3+ ways of nuking the field and probably getting more pluses via destroying your Trooper or Pulsar (Debris+Trooper/Assailant/Reaper, Veiler+Pulsar, and now Diva+Darkflare). Something that is usually forgotten in CD is the abundance of versatile tuners the deck can run without messing up the whole strategy(veilers and debris usually), and Diva is another versatile tuner monster that goes well with the deck(based on my testing). This abundance of tuners might result into an almost invincible Scar Red Nova Dragon for trolololz. (fitting him in is not a problem since CD players don't really reach out for their Extra Decks frequently)

The only problem with Diva? Obviously, milling her sucks. She's not Dark or Light so milling her is like milling a spell, and milling two Divas is like getting your REDMD banished. And she's only good if you have a Dragon to back her up. Otherwise, she'll just become Gachi and stall. (not really that bad, though).

Another bad thing is she seems to be a candidate for a restriction since she functions like TGU and TGU is semi-limited. Not to mention the abundance of unfair plusses she can give to a Mermail-Atlantean player.

TL:DR? Diva isn't just for Mermails.




*The three empty slots are caused by my lack of access to Tour Guide and/or Gold Sarco which are probably the best cards to put in CD right now. It was a choice of buying 2 TGU and 3 Gold Sarco, or buying Fire Fist cards from VE08. TGUs and Sarcos aren't really cheap in PH but Fire Fist cards only come once every blue moon.

**I haven't moved on from the Synchro era yet because of BRD. She's just too good of a card to pass up. (Even my initial windup deck had synchros in it.) And my love for Karakuris will probably hinder me from moving on. LOL
